Revdanda beach is located at a distance of 17 km from Alibaug in Maharashtra. Every time we visit the beach, the roaring waves crash on the beach and the clear waters are truly exhilarating. Camping on the beach is one of the best experiences at this beach. Besides that, there are some interesting places to explore near Revdanda beach, including forts, bird sanctuaries, water sport activities, and more beaches.



1 ) Korlai fort


Korlai Fort is one of the most enchanting places near Revdanda. It is situated at a distance of 3 km from Revdanda Beach. This Portuguese construction is now in ruins however, it retains its charm with its location. It is a perfect place for photography and nature lovers.


In 1521 AD, the Portuguese built Korlai Fort, also known as Morro or Castle Curlew, with the permission of the Sultanate of Ahmednagar. It is located on Morro de Chaul Island which secures the way to Revdanda Creek. This fort was built by the Portuguese as a strategic move to defend their rule between Bassein and Korlai. Fortifications surround the entire fort area, which measures 2828 feet in length and 8 feet in width. There are 11 large gates, of which four are outside and the remaining 7 are inside. All the gates exhibit ancient Portuguese inscriptions. Two lines of bastioned fortifications divide the area within the fort walls into three enclosures. To protect against enemy attacks, the outside fortification has 305 parapets for guns and cannons. Besides the ruins of a magazine and a church, it has a large rainwater cistern with three mouths, each one foot wide. The rest of the fort structures are mostly in dilapidated condition and the entire compound has been covered with high grass.

The only way to reach Korlai Fort is by trekking 2 kilometers through rugged grassland from Korlai village. Old-aged people or people with knee problems are advised not to visit the fort. Learn More






2 ) Revdanda Fort



The discovery of historic monuments can be insightful and inspiring. While traveling from Kashid to Alibaug, take some time to explore Revdanda Fort and reminisce about the past. Located at the mouth of the Kundalika River, the fort is quite accessible by road.

The fort was built by a Portuguese Capt. The construction of Soj is said to have been completed in 1524. In order to protect their trading interests, the fort was strategically built by the sea. Originally named Santa Maria de Castelo (in Portuguese), the fort was renamed Revdanda after Revati, the wife of Balrama, the Yadava king.

Today though the fort dons a dilapidated look, it still has a charm that attracts quite a few tourists. Fort lovers or photographers who wish to shoot weddings and pre-weddings find the destination gorgeous.You can see that as you approach the fort - palm trees and betelnut trees create a beautiful backdrop.

What remains today of the fort is a seven-story tower and the fortification walls. And you will enjoy taking out time to revel in the stunning visuals, and architecture, and connect the glimpses of history through the remains. 3 ) Kolaba Fort



The Kolaba fort is also known as Alibaug fort and is located at a distance of 12 km from Revdanda beach. Built-in the year 1652, Kolaba fort is one of the popular forts and a protected monument. The fort is accessible from the sea bed during low tide, making it an interesting place to visit at low tide. And during high tide, there are ferries that take you to the fort. As one of Shivaji Maharaj's chief naval stations during his reign, it is a 300-year-old fort.

It is a spectacular sight to see this isolated military fortification located in the middle of the Arabian Sea. There are only a few beachgoers here and there, so the walk is quiet and scenic. Additionally, a temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha, built by Raghoji Angre in the year 1759, is also present on the premises and is still worshipped by fishermen from the area. Learn more







4 ) Alibaug Beach




Its beautiful beaches, villas, and beautiful scenery make Alibaug Beach one of the most popular beach towns in Maharashtra's Konkan region. Alibag is very popular as a weekend getaway from the cities of Mumbai and Pune.

The beaches in Alibaug are only a few minutes' drive from one another, so you won't have to worry about choosing which one to visit. Alibaug Beach is the most popular beach in Alibaug, offering stunning views of the sunrise and sunset, as well as a quick boat ride to Kolaba Fort. It is still possible to see most of the edifice that was once the cornerstone of the Maratha Empire at Colaba Fort. 5 ) Varsoli Beach


Varsoli beach is a great place if you are looking for a peaceful getaway. It is located at 15 km from Revdanda beach. As compared to other beaches in Alibaug, this white-sand beach is pretty much less crowded. On this beach, you will come across some of the best and beautiful resorts and home-stays. Varsoli also serves as a naval base for the Indian army.

Varsoli Beach is a beautiful white-sand beach coupled with the calm waters of the Arabian Sea. There are numerous palm, suru, and casuarina trees along the two-kilometer coastline of Varsoli beach. A few stretches of the shoreline are also dotted with rocky stones, adding another natural beauty to the beach. 6 ) Kashid Beach

Kashid Beach is located on the coast of the Arabian Sea, almost 30 km from Alibaug and 125 km from Mumbai. Kashid Beach in north Konkan is famous for its white sand and is one of the cleanest beaches in the region. The beach is stretched across 3 km and surrounded by shrubs and trees called Casuarina. Watersports can be enjoyed, camping at night is a wonderful experience, or horseback riding on the beach is a relaxing experience.Take a trip to Murud Janjira Fort, which is located at a distance of 20 km from Kashid Beach. Located amidst the stretching azure of the Arabian Sea, this fort has stood the test of time as well as the test of resilience. The weekends at Kashid Beach are quite crowded, so it is better to go there during the week.






Located on the shores of the Arabian Sea, Nagaon Beach is 9 kilometers away from Alibaug's city center. There are many water-based adventure activities available at a reasonable price at this beach that is lined with palm trees, betel trees, and Suru trees. Visit Nagaon Beach for a weekend getaway and experience the local lifestyle at the many homestays and resorts here.

The shore of Nagaon Beach stretches for 3 km, meeting the waves of the Arabian Sea. The sunsets here are especially lovely, and an evening walk on the beach is a wonderful way to end your day. Mandwa Beach is located near the popular town of Alibag in the Raigad district of Maharashtra. Aquasplash is the place for watersports on Nagaon Beach. There is a 7-kilometer distance between this and Revdanda Beach. They have interesting and adrenaline-pumping water sports activities such as Jet Ski, bumpy rides, banana rides, and boat rides. There is also a paintball court to have fun with your friends.
